Analytics
Google Analytics counts visits and shows me which pages get read. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland these stay off until you allow them. Elsewhere they are on by default and you can opt out at any time.

Changing your choice
Use the Cookie preferences control at the bottom of any page, or the button at the top of this one. If you turn analytics off after allowing it, the site deletes the Google Analytics cookies at once and reloads the page so the measurement code stops running. Your choice is kept for twelve months. If what the site asks permission for changes in a way that matters, it will ask again sooner; if you declined, it will not ask again for six months.
In the United States and most countries outside Europe, analytics is on unless you opt out. You can opt out on Your Privacy Choices, and if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal the site treats that as an opt-out without you having to do anything.
If you turn analytics off
Turning analytics off deletes the Google Analytics cookies straight away and reloads the page so the measurement code stops running in this tab. Denying permission on its own would leave code that Google says may still send basic measurements without cookies, so the page is reloaded rather than left to run with permission withdrawn.
The fit reader
The tool that compares a job description with my work runs entirely in your browser. The text you paste never leaves this tab: it is not uploaded to this site or to anyone else, it is not logged, and it is discarded when you clear it or close the tab. A published test on the evaluation recordchecks this on every release. Two things are stored, both listed above under Strictly necessary and neither sent anywhere: the model files, which come from this site, and, if you start from the homepage, the pasted text itself for the one moment it takes to move between pages in this tab. That hand-off is deleted as soon as the fit reader opens.
Where you are
To show you the consent notice that applies where you are, this site's server looks up which country your IP address belongs to, using an offline copy of a country database. The lookup runs on the server, nothing is sent to the database's publisher, and your IP address is not stored. The result is a region code and a country code in a cookie that ends with your browsing session, listed above. If you make a choice about analytics, those two values are recorded with it for twelve months, so the record shows which rules applied when you chose.
